Ever since Amazon started its October Prime Day, I’ve used the sale to get a head start on holiday shopping. In past years, I’ve scored splatterware serving bowls for my host-loving mom, a fancy French press small enough for my fiance to schlep to the office and linen throw pillows for myself. This year, however, I’m keeping an eye on toy deals to cross a growing number of nieces and nephews — who range in age from newborn to 9 years old — off my list.

I’ve previously seen Melissa and Doug’s line of wooden playsets and puzzles up to 50% off, as well as 20% off popular picks from Magna-Tiles and Lovevery. If history repeats itself, here’s everything I plan to “add to cart” if the price is right.

My cousin’s 2- and 3-year-old equally love Ms. Rachel. Needless to say, I’m keen to snatch up something from the new collaboration with Melissa & Doug, whether that’s the wood block set or sing-a-long puzzle.  It’s anticipated to be a top new release on Amazon, and while you never know what will be on sale, my fingers are crossed something will be in stock come October 8 (even the doll!).

Lovevery Block Set Building Activity Box

Lovevery The Block Set Building Activity Box

Moms love Lovevery, and it’s easy to see why. The builder blocksmusical instrument set and reading puzzles are aesthetically pleasing (so much so that my parent pals don’t mind if they’re left out for days). They rarely go on sale, so even if they dip ever so slightly in price, I think it’s worth grabbing — especially since each box is designed to support learning and development from 0 months to 4-plus years (tip: you can shop by stage at the brand's Amazon storefront).

GUND Sesame Street Peek-a-Boo Cookie Monster

This animated version of Cookie Monster will surely win me major Aunt points among my Sesame Street-loving little ones. (Any other ‘90s kids remember Tickle Me Elmo?) This super soft, cuddly toy counts cookies (up to 10) and plays peek-a-boo. And I love that it's safe for those ages 1 and up.

10 Early October Prime Day Toy Deals

In the meantime, I found a few early October Prime Day deals on toys I don’t have to wait to buy. My favorite: Fisher-Price's stuffed animal-slash-sound machine, which boasts a whopping 42,000-plus positive reviews. I’ll be scooping it up for all of the nap-averse youngsters in my life. Other highlights include a bunch of Lego box sets and massive Squishmallows (ideal for the older kiddos I still have to shop for).
