If you think Amazon is always having a sale, you're not entirely wrong. The Amazon Baby Sale is still going strong, and in just a few weeks, Amazon Prime Big Deal Days will return. But this is good news for you: it means you have multiple opportunities to save money — sometimes hundreds of dollars — on baby gear and maternity essentials. And as What to Expect’s Shopping editor, I’m here to help you understand what to expect (no pun intended).

This is Amazon’s third year in a row hosting an “October Prime Day." From October 8 to October 9, you can expect deep discounts on everything from car seats and strollers to maternity clothes and matching family pajamas. Amazon won’t reveal the deals until the event starts, but I have a few predictions about what will be on sale. I’ve been covering Prime Day and Amazon’s other shopping events since 2022, and I’ve found that the deals tend to repeat themselves.

Based on the past two October Amazon sales I’ve covered, here are the products I expect (and hope) you’ll be able to save big on in 2024.

Fall maternity and nursing clothes

You’ll probably want some maternity jeans, sweaters and a coat to get through the colder months ahead. I’ve found Amazon’s maternity clothes to be surprisingly stylish, well-fitted and comfortable — and they’ll likely be on sale during Prime Big Deal Days. In 2022, I snagged the maternity-friendly Orolay Down Jacket for 40% off and almost grabbed another in 2023. Other notable maternity deals from 2023 included up to 50% off bump-friendly sweaters and tops from Ekouaer and discounts on some of Amazon’s popular maternity leggings, including our favorite pair from Poshdivah.

Last year’s sale featured plenty of deals on nursing and postpartum clothes, too. In addition to its maternity sweaters, Ekouaer’s nursing tops were also on sale. Momcozy offered up to 50% off its extensive line of nursing bras, while Kindred Bravely took 20% off its award-winning Sublime Hands-Free Pumping & Nursing Bra. Kindred Bravely also had deals on its maternity and postpartum clothing. I expect to see similar discounts this year, meaning you could build a whole new maternity wardrobe without breaking the bank.

Here are some of my favorite Amazon maternity and nursing clothing deals happening now:

Baby clothes

You probably need to transition your baby’s wardrobe from summer to fall (and, hey, throw in winter, too), and Prime Big Deal Days is sure to have great sales on cold-weather clothes. Last year, Honest Baby and Carter’s both offered up to 40% off multi-packs of long-sleeved bodysuits, which are crucial to winter layering. And though they’re more of a summer shoe, parents saved 36% on Crocs for toddlers and kids and got ahead for next summer.

My favorite deal, however, was on Burt’s Bees matching family pajamas. The company behind the buttery soft baby pajamas also makes holiday options for toddlers, older kids and adults. Last year, you could save 35% on an assortment of matching Christmas pajamas, as well as a few Halloween and Thanksgiving options. I imagine this sale will be back again in 2024 and, much to my husband’s dismay, I plan to snag some for our family Christmas card.

That said, there are some good Amazon baby clothes deals happening now:

Diapers, wipes and creams

Not-so-fun fact: Your baby will go through about $900 worth of diapers in their first year. That’s a lot of money, and it doesn’t include the cost of wipes and diaper rash creams. Stocking up on diapering essentials during a sale is a great way to cut down on that cost. During last year’s Prime Big Deal Days, Amazon offered up to 30% off diapers and wipes from Pampers, Honest Company and Babyganics, and 20% off Triple Paste, which was named the Best Diaper Rash Cream by What to Expect.

Since these deals will likely repeat, take a page out of my book and stock up! Last year, I bought one box in my daughter’s size at the time, plus one box in the next two sizes. If you’re pregnant or have a newborn, consider buying at least one box each of sizes 1 through 3.

If you need to restock your changing station, here are some of the best Amazon diaper deals happening now:

Car seats

In 2022, I bought the Graco Extend2Fit in anticipation of my daughter transitioning out of her infant car seat. I thought I got a good deal, saving 15% on the popular seat. But two weeks later, during the first-ever Prime Big Deal Days, it was 25% off. Lesson learned. Last year, Amazon shoppers saved over 30% on infant, convertible and booster car seats from Graco, Britax and Evenflo. Even Graco’s rotating car seat was part of the sale, marked down from $349 to $214!

For parents who need a car seat now, here are the best Amazon car seat deals currently available:

Video baby monitors

Today’s baby monitors offer clearer and more reliable features than past versions. However, that quality comes at a price, with some of the most popular baby monitors costing up to $300! Fortunately, there have been plenty of baby monitor deals during past Prime Big Deal Days. Last year, Amazon offered 20% off the popular Nanit Pro Smart Baby Monitor and Owlet Cam 2. Meanwhile, you could save 30% on already affordable monitors from HelloBaby and VTech.

Postpartum recovery items

Yes, your hospital will likely provide you with some after-birth essentials. But those supplies will only last a few days before you'll need more. Rather than overnighting postpartum recovery items, keep an eye out for deals on peri bottles, postpartum underwear and super absorbent pads. Last year, Amazon offered 30% off Frida Mom’s line of postpartum recovery items, including the 2-in-1 Perineal Ice Maxi Pads that I used almost daily after giving birth. Another one of my postpartum go-tos, the Lansinoh Breast Therapy Packs were 24% off. You could also save 20% on Kindred Bravely’s High Waist Postpartum Underwear, which many What to Expect moms live in after giving birth.

Nursing and feeding supplies

Wearable breast pumps have become incredibly popular over the past few years, allowing moms to pump from almost anywhere without being tethered to a wall. Unfortunately, most insurance plans don’t cover these models, which is why you’ll want to watch for breast pump deals during Prime Big Deal Days. Both the Elvie Pump and Willow Go were on sale for the past two years and will likely be discounted again. Last year, several Momcozy wearable pumps were marked down 20%, making them even more affordable.

You’ll also want to look out for deals on milk storage bags; Last year, What to Expect moms stocked up Medela’s breastmilk storage bags, which were 32% off, will likely do so again if the deal is just as good.

Cold and flu essentials

‘Tis the season for sniffles, sneezes and snot — and you can likely use Prime Big Deal Days to stock up on enough sick-day essentials to get your family through. In 2023, What to Expect parents took advantage of Frida Baby’s 30% discount to grab thermometers and, of course, the Snotsucker. Parents were also able to save 25% of the Levoit Top Fill Humidifier, which is great for any room of the house.

All things Halloween

Prime Big Deal Days is an unofficial kickoff to the holidays — and that includes Halloween. Last year, Amazon offered deals on just about anything related to Halloween: 40% off inflatable lawn decorations, 20% off family costumes and 15% off candy for trick-or-treaters. But my personal favorite were the deals on Halloween pajamas from Burt’s Bees, Carter’s and Children’s Place — some were marked down 50%!

Toys

Prime Big Deal Days is the perfect time to get ahead on holiday shopping. Last year, I bought all of my daughter’s Christmas gifts during the sale, which allowed me to relax a little more come December. In 2023, Prime Big Deal Days offered discounts on some rarely-on-sale toys, including Magna-Tiles sets and Lovevery blocks — both of which I snagged for about 20% off.

There were also plenty of deals on Melissa & Doug toys, which are my go-to for any gift-giving occasion. The brand sells everything from puzzles to play sets to activity books, and every item is made of quality materials so it’ll last for years. Last year, you could save up to 43% on Melissa & Doug toys, and I’m hoping history repeats itself.

Amazon Prime Big Deal Days Prep

Before you make your shopping list, here are a few things you should do to not only take full advantage of Prime Big Deal Days but also maximize your savings:

  • Sign up for a Prime membership if you don’t already have one, as the deals are only valid for Prime members.
  • Bookmark What to Expect’s Amazon Prime Big Deal Days hub. We’re updating it daily as sale info becomes available and highlighting some deals you can snag ahead of the two-day sale.
  • If you’re expecting, create an Amazon baby registry. This will save you time during the sale since you can easily pull up your registry, see what’s on sale, and add those items to your cart.
  • Review the products you shouldn't buy during Prime Big Deal Days. It’s easy to get distracted by the jaw-dropping discounts, but not every deal with worthwhile.
  • Compare Prime Big Deal Days and Target Circle Week sales. Both Amazon and Target are hosting fall sales, so you want to make sure you're shopping the best deals at each one to maximize your savings.
